Description
Sweet, savory, and sticky — this ultimate Sticky Pineapple Chicken recipe is packed with tropical flavor, tender chicken, and a glossy caramelized sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks (or canned, drained)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Cut the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, cornstarch, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Whisk until smooth.
3. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade. Toss well to coat. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
4. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
5. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the chicken is browned and cooked through.
6. Stir in the pineapple chunks to the skillet, allowing them to caramelize slightly for about 2–3 minutes.
7. Pour the remaining marinade into the skillet. Bring to a low simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and become sticky.
8. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.
9. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
10. Serve Sticky Pineapple Chicken immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
For extra depth of flavor, grill the pineapple chunks before adding them to the skillet.
Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier alternative.
This dish pairs wonderfully with jasmine rice or stir-fried noodles.
