Description
A hearty and comforting dish featuring ground beef, tomatoes, and macaroni, seasoned with classic spices for a nostalgic flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks.
2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is softened, about 3-4 minutes.
3. Stir in the uncooked elbow macaroni, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, paprika, oregano, basil, black pepper, and salt.
4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally.
5. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top and cover for 2-3 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
6. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
