Description
Honey Garlic Turkey Meatballs are juicy, flavorful, and coated in a sticky-sweet garlic soy glaze. Made with lean ground turkey and simple ingredients, they’re perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, or entertaining.
Ingredients
- For the meatballs:
- 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean works best)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs or almond flour for gluten-free
- 1 egg
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the sauce:
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, green onion, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined — don’t overwork the mixture, as that can make the meatballs tough.
2. Use a small scoop or your hands to roll the mixture into 1 to 1.5-inch meatballs. Wet your hands slightly to prevent sticking.
3. Heat a bit of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in a single layer and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through (internal temp of 165°F), about 8-10 minutes. Alternatively, you can bake them at 400°F for 15-18 minutes.
4. While the meatballs cook, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and sesame oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. If you like a thicker sauce, add the cornstarch slurry and simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
5. Add the cooked meatballs to the pan of sauce and toss to coat. Let them simmer in the sauce for a couple of minutes so the flavor really soaks in.
6. Top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
Serve these meatballs over rice, noodles, or steamed veggies for a quick and balanced meal.
They’re also great for meal prep — just store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Adjust the spice level with red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha if you prefer heat.
