Description

This Big Mac Casserole delivers all the iconic McDonald’s flavors in a hearty, family-friendly dinner ready in under 30 minutes. Made with ground beef, potatoes, cheddar cheese, and a tangy homemade Big Mac sauce, it’s like having a Big Mac in a bowl!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (96/4)
  • 1 lb russet potatoes, chopped (skin on)
  • 1/2 white onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (112g)
  • Big Mac Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (55g)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (65g)
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles, chopped
  • 1 tbsp dill pickle juice
  • Toppings:
  • 1 vine tomato, chopped
  • Handful of chopped white onions
  • Handful of shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle chips

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash and chop potatoes into small bite-size pieces, leaving the skin on.

2. Heat a pan over medium heat and add olive oil. Add potatoes and 1/4 cup water. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 5–10 minutes, stirring often, until softened. Transfer potatoes to a baking dish.

3. In the same pan, cook ground beef and onions until beef is mostly cooked and onions are soft. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and mustard. Stir to combine and add to the potatoes in the baking dish. Mix well.

4. Top the mixture with shredded cheddar cheese and cover with foil. Bake for 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.

5. While the casserole bakes, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, chopped pickles, and pickle juice to make the Big Mac sauce. Refrigerate until ready to use.

6. Once baked, remove casserole from oven and foil. Drizzle the Big Mac sauce over the top. Add shredded lettuce, chopped white onion, chopped tomato, and dill pickle chips.

7. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken, but beef gives the most authentic Big Mac flavor.

Leftover Big Mac sauce makes a great spread for sandwiches and wraps.

For the most accurate nutrition info, weigh the final dish and divide by number of servings.
